BIO
Martin J Patumsuon’s journey as a competitive SUP (Stand-Up Paddleboarding) athlete began in early 2022. It all started when he watched his father, Pongpat, who was addicted to SUP, compete in his very first race on Thailand’s famed River Kwai.
Witnessing the excitement and camaraderie of being a part of Thailand’s SUP racing community, Martin decided to immediately start training and competing alongside his dad.
It was a steep learning curve with many humbling moments, but Martin kept going and his passion for the sport is now paying dividends. Though he has only been racing for a year and a half, he is now a constant sight on the podium in Thailand and has medaled in a diverse range of races and age categories in all types of conditions.
On most days after school, you’ll find Martin practicing on the waters of Bangkok’s River of Kings – the Chao Phraya.
Though he’s only turning 15 in October, Martin is excited to race against the world’s top junior competitors in the under-18 junior category in the upcoming ICF World Paddling Championships in Pattaya, where he will gain invaluable experience on the water and see the biggest names in the sport in action.
